Nigeria Police Force holds two day workshop on criminal investigation and prosecution in Bauchi.

The Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of zone twelve has been commended for coming up with a workshop that will address issues of extant laws concerning criminal investigations and prosecutions within the zone.
The Bauchi State Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs Barrister Abubakar Abdulhamid made the commendation while declaring opened, a two day workshop on criminal investigation and prosecution for investigators and prosecutors organized by zone twelve police headquarters at Sulgad Hotel, Bauchi.
Barrister Abubakar Abdulhamid said the workshop will harness the technical knowledge in security aspect that will benefit Bauchi and Gombe state, the north east zone as well as the entire country.
In a welcome address, the Assistant Inspector General of police in charge of zone twelve Idowu Owohunwa said the workshop is an advancement of the reform agenda of the inspector general of police Kayode Egbetokun.
Idowu Owohunwa said the workshop is geared to restore public investigative excellence and aligning activities of detectives within zone twelve police headquarters and across the force.
The Assistant Inspector general of police in charge of zone twelve revealed that a total of fifty two detectives and operatives were drawn from investigation and intelligence department of Bauchi and Gombe state commands are participating in the two day workshop.
He pointed out that, about sixteen papers were going to be delivered by highly experienced professionals drawn from serving and retired police officers, legal practitioners, human Rights advocates and civil society organizations.
He said the topics will cover criminal investigation process and administration of criminal justice and other relevant criminal laws investigation skills and ethics statement taking proficiency as well as pre trial detention among others.
The AIG said at the end of the workshop, participants are expected to be exposed to the increasingly complex dynamics of crime as well as gaining knowledge of extant laws governing criminal investigation and prosecution.
In their goodwill messages, the chairman Bauchi state Anti Corruption Commission retired DIG Sani Mohammed, special adviser to the governor on security retired AIG Abdurahman Ahmed, State NBA chairman Dr Ibrahim Danjuma as well as Hajiya Sha’awanatu Yusuf of the ministry of justice commended AIG zone twelve for setting the pace of security management workshop in the state.
They therefore use the forum to call on the participants to make good use of the knowledge to be acquired in discharging their constitutional duties.
