National Population Commission appeals to President Tinubu to announce date for the conduct of population and housing census.

The National Population Commission has appealed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to proclaim a date for the conduct of population and housing census for the country to know her actual population for proper planning.
The NPC Chairman Alhaji Nasir Isa Kwarra who made the appeal in Abuja at the occasion to commemorate the 2024 World Population Day, said the Commission has equipment and manpower to conduct census that will be accepted.
The speech which was presented by the NPC Bauchi Federal Commissioner Alhaji Ibrahim Muhammad Darazo, said the day was set aside to raise awareness on the importance of data to the national development.
He said when individuals, group of people and the government have access to timely representative and comprehensive data sourced from census, they will be guided in taking informed decisions.
According to him, this year’s theme, Embracing the Power of Inclusive Data Towards Resilient and Equitable Future for All is apt, considering the nation’s desire to achieve the SDGs goals by 2030.
The NPC Chairman solicited for support from all stakeholders especially the legislative arm for the Commission to conduct free, credible and acceptable census for the country.
