NATIONAL INSTITUTE FOR LEGISLATIVE DEMOCRATIC STUDIES CONDUCTS QUIZ COMPETITION IN THE NORTH EAST ZONE

The National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies of the National Assembly has conducted North East zonal Quiz Competition on the legislative, democratic and governance in Bauchi State.
Speaking before the commencement of the competition held at the Bauchi State assembly complex, the Director General of the institute, Professor Abubakar O. Sulaiman the objective of the competition is to provide continued education on the legislature and broaden the knowledge of students and youths on history, practice, and procedures of the legislature as well as encourage deeper understanding of civic and democratic governance.
Represented by Director Administration and Human Resources in the institute, Aminu Bello, the DG added that, the competition will also stimulate the interest of the young students in politics and make them more proactive in matters relating the legislature and democracy.
Professor Abubakar said the first edition of the competition was conducted in 2026 with participating schools drawn strictly within the Federal Capital Territory and later continued to be an annual event until the Governing Council of the institute directed that, the competition should be expanded to the length and breadth of the country.
He urged the competing students and their teachers to always abide by the rules of the game in the true spirit of sportsmanship to avoid interference towards achieving the desired objectives of the competition.

Commended the National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies for holding the North East Zonal quiz competition in Bauchi state and promised to provide the needed support for the success of the programme.
In a vote of thanks, the chairman State Assembly committee on education Dr. Nasiru Ahmed Ala appreciated the participating schools for the maturity and level of commitment in providing answers to the questions during the competition.
He challenged the students to be good ambassadors of the respective states and the north east in general., adding that the quiz competition will no doubt prepare the students for future academic excellence.
The competition was attended by students from Adamawa, Bauchi, Borno, Gombe, Taraba and Yobe states, where Taraba state emerged first and Bauchi state bagged the second position.
