Katagum Local Govt Education Authority decries non fencing of schools in the area.

Katagum local government has decried on the non fencing of schools in the area and described it as a security threat to teaching and learning activities.
The local education secretary in the area Adamu Alhaji Muhammad disclosed this during a step down report on safe school to School support officers and School inspectors of the local govt as part of measures to ensure safety of school from the grassroots level, organized by State Universal Basic Education in collaboration with UNICEF held in Azare.
Adamu Alhaji Muhammad, said out of One Hundred and seventy one Primary Schools and Thirty one Junior Secondary Schools in Katagum, only few are fenced.
He said some unpatriotic citizens are using the opportunity of enter such schools, break windows and steal chairs, cut down the trees in school premises and turn the classes into toilets.
The education secretary added that, lack of security personnels to guard schools is contributing to unsecured learning environment.
According to him, discontinuation of homegrown school feeding programme by the federal govt is among the factors that contributes to school dropped out in the area and urged the federal government to continue with the feeding program to enhance enrollment.
He charged the school support officers and School Inspectors in the area to ensure safe teaching and learning in schools under their jurisdiction and step down the report to heads of schools for effective implementation.
Some of School Support Officers interviewed Adamu Musa and Yunusa Haruna Madachi, promised to gather all headmasters, Teachers, School based Management Committee and pupils to step down the grassroots level training and ensure effective supervision for sustainability of safe school desired objective within their control.
