Bauchi State Tertiary Institutions to commence indefinite strike action.

The Joint Action Committee (JAC) of Academics and Non-academic Staff Unions of Bauchi State owned Tertiary Institutions will embark on an indefinite strike from Thursday, 2nd January, 2025.
The State Chairman of the committee, Comrade Engineer Abubakar Ahmed announced the decision of the committee, following an emergency Congress meeting held on Monday, December 30, 2024, at the ASUP Secretariat Conference Hall of the Abubakar Tatari Ali Polytechnic, Bauchi.
The Comrade Abubakar said the strike is in response to the failure of the state government to implement the newly approved CONPCASS and CONTEDISS salary structures.
The committee also expressed concerns over the government’s use of delay tactics, which they believed to have undermined stability, efficiency, and quality of service delivery in Bauchi tertiary institutions.
Comrade Ahmed expressed the committee’s frustration with the governments approach to addressing their demands and emphasized that JAC, has no choice but to take further action.
He noted that, after reviewing the governments position, the committee resolved to commence a full, indefinite strike.
Comrade Ahmed extended his sympathy to the public, particularly students and parents, for the inconvenience this industrial action might cause, assuring that the unions are prepared to resume work as soon as their demands were met.
The affected institutions according to the committee include, Abubakar Tatari Ali Polytechnic Bauchi, Adamu Tafawa Balewa College of Education, Kangere, A.D. Rufai College of Education, Legal and General Studies Misau, Aminu Saleh College of Education Azare, Bauchi State College of Agriculture and the Bill and Melinda Gates College of Health Sciences and Technology, Ningi.
