Bauchi State Speaker Says Creation of 13 Emirates, Chiefdom Will Boost Grassroots Development

The Speaker, Bauchi State House of Assembly, Dr Abubakar Y. Suleiman, has said the creation of 13 emirates and one chiefdom by the Bauchi State Government was aimed at bringing governance closer to the people and enhancing grassroots development.

The Speaker stated this during a courtesy visit by members of the State Assembly to the Palace of the Emir of Warji as part of the lawmakers’ tour of emirate councils across the state.

Dr Abubakar said the establishment of the new traditional institutions would strengthen community participation in governance and promote peace and development.

He also prayed for the Emir’s good health and for the continued peace and stability of the Warji Emirate and Bauchi State.

He urged the Emir to sustain efforts in sensitising his subjects on the importance of peaceful coexistence, respect for constituted authorities and support for government policies and programmes.

In his response, the Emir of Warji, Alhaji Ibrahim Sama’ila Boyi, appealed to the Bauchi State Government to remobilise the contractor handling the Warji General Hospital project to ensure its timely completion and improve access to quality healthcare for the people.

The Emir assured the Speaker and members of the Assembly of the emirate’s continued support, cooperation and constructive advice to both the executive and legislative arms of government in their collective efforts to address the challenges facing the people of Bauchi State.
