BAUCHI STATE GOVERNMENT RECEIVES FUNDS FOR THE IMPLEMENTATION OF ADOLESCENT GIRLS INITIATIVES FOR LEARNING AND EMPOWERMENT (AGILE) PROJECT IN THE STATE

Bauchi State Government has received five million dollars out of the eighty million dollars assigned for the implementation of Adolescent Girls Initiatives for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE) project in the state
The State Commissioner of education Dr Jamila Dahiru made the disclosure during the quarterly state steering committee meeting organized by the state ministry of education in collaboration with adolescent Girls initiatives for learning and Empowerment held at Chart Well Hotel, Bauchi
The commissioner reaffirmed state government commitment towards proper utilization of the funds to achieve the set objectives to improve secondary education opportunities among girls in Bauchi state
According to her, the AGILE project is a comprehensive approach to address Critical binding constraints that adolescent Girls face which limit their ability to complete secondary school which are gender based violence, insecurity, proximity and poor conducive learning environment among others
She added that, AGILE project targeted beneficiaries are the adolescent Girls between the ages of ten and twenty where the education commissioner pledged her commitment to ensure the full actualization of the program in the state
The Commissioner also tasked the committee to work based on the terms and reference of the AGILE for proper adoption of approve work plan in the state
In his presentation of twenty twenty four, approved work plan, the state coordinator of the AGILE project Alhaji Ali Sule Gar explained the three components of the program to the committee for deliberation to include creation of safe and accessible learning space, construction of new class rooms and rehabilitation of dilapidated as well as provision of teaching materials among others.
