Bauchi State Commissioner for education calls on wealthy individuals to support the education of people with disabilities.

Bauchi State Ministry of Education has called on wealthy individuals to support the education of people with disabilities in the society.

The Commissioner in the ministry, Dr. Jamila Mohammed Dahiru made the call when she attended icon 2 intervention program marking world disability day, organized by Women Farmers Advancement Network WOFAN, held at the Bauchi State Special Education Center.

The permanent Secretary in the ministry, Alhaji Ali Babayo Gamawa who represented the Commissioner, said government concern in the Bauchi State Special Education Center cannot be over emphasize, promised continued support to enhance the center’s services for optimum performance.

He said Governor Bala led administration remain committed to support students with disabilities in the special center, saying government door is always open to receive complaints from the school.

In his remark, the state team lead for Women Farmers Advancement Network, Alhaji Shafi’u Babaji, said the network has donated tailoring machines to the Bauchi State Special Education Center.

He also said, the students were able to make their school uniforms, bags among others.

In her presentation, the Principal of Bauchi State Special Education Center, Hajiya Asabe Yahaya Muhammad, said considering the history of the school, there is no indigenous NGO that provides a huge support to the school like Women Farmers Advancement Network WOFAN, urging them to maintain the spirit.

She noted that before, the school doesn’t have enough toilets and bathrooms where the students used to depicate around the school compound and outside school which is affecting their neighbors, adding that, with the support from Ambassador Salamatu Garba it became history.

The Principal revealed that WOFAN has built over twenty toilets and bathrooms facilities for the students.

She commended the WOFAN state team leader Alhaji Shafi’u Babaji for working round the clock to see everything is possible within shortage time and urged him to maintain the tempo.

In his vote of thanks, the village head of Birshi, Alhaji Muhammad Lawal Ahmed, described Hajiya Salamatu Garba as virtuous woman who dedicated her self to work day and night in order to assist the people not only in Bauchi but the entire Nigeria.

He urged the Principal of the Bauchi State Special Education Center to make judicious use of the items distributed.
