Bauchi Committee on Gender Base Violence embarks on advocacy visit to eleven LGA’s.

Bauchi State Action Commeetee on Gender Based Violence has to reach out to Over one thousand communities in the eleven Local Government of the state with advocacy, Sensitization, training Counseling and assistance to over six hundred survivors of various forms of GBV.
The state First lady Dr. Aisha Bala who is the chairperson of the commeetee made this known at a stakeholders’ mega rally protecting women and Girls in commemoration of the sixteen Days Activism twenty twenty Four organised by the commeetee held at the Government House, Bauchi.
Dr Aisha said Gender Based Violence is a violation of basic human rights, hence the need for all and sundry to help combat the menace, ensuring safety, Justice and support for all victims in the state.
She said the committee under her leadership has provided sexual assault referral centre at the specialist Hospital Bauchi, offers free and confidential health care for the survivors of Gender Based Violence.
The First lady also said the commeetee established a network of community volunteers and advocates who monitor and report the cases of violence and provide support and referrals to the survivors .
Aisha Bala Muhammad further more that he committee has engaged with the local authorities and traditional leaders to improve the legal policy framework and to enforce the existing laws and regulations.
In their separate remarks, Professor Zubairu Abubakar Madaki, Imam Abdurrahman Idris and Barrister Aminu Balarabe Isa commended the efforts of the First lady for established the committee with the a view to tackle issues of Gender Based Violence in the society.
In her welcome address, the Deputy chairperson of the Action committee Hajiya Aisha Baba Tela called on Bauchi citizens to support the crusade.
Aisha Baba Tela commended the First lady for the initiative and the members of the committee for their commitment.
