BAUCHI STATE ASSEMBLY INSPECTS. SCHOOLS TO ASSESS FACILITIES

 

Bauchi State House of Assembly Committee on Education has inspected Government Day Technical School, Kafin Madaki in Ganjuwa Local Government area. to assess deteriorating facilities and physical condition of the school.

The visit is sequel to a motion moved by member representing Ganjuwa West in the state Garba Adamu Kawu on the urgent need for the state government to intervene and restore reputation of schools from deteriorating in his constituency.

. Garba Adamu Kawu highlighted his contributions to schools in his constituency including sponsorship of graduates to obtain trade test certificates and access further education for the development of Ganjuwa West Constituency.

He called on his constituents to take ownership of schools in their communities while appealing to the government to support them,, and announced plans to provide two cleaners and at least five graduates as volunteer teachers with a monthly stipend.

In a remark, the Chairman state assembly committee on Education, Dr. Nasiru Ahmed Ala appreciated the member representing Ganjuwa West, Garba Adamu Kawu’s commitment to the school’s progress, stating that the committee and the state ministry of education were there to inspect the school’s conditions and respond to constituent’s concerns.

The Chairman of the Kafin Madaki Technical school Parent-Teacher Association Malam Yahaya Baba, thanked the Commissioner and the committee members for the visit and highlighted key issues that needed special attention to include among others, the provision of inverter batteries for the school ICT center, fencing of the school to prevent encroachment and the repairs of laboratory equipment and other facilities.

He urged the Commissioner, ministry for education to repair the school’s practical machines to enhance students’ performance, address unauthorized student transfers, and consider volunteer teachers to support the school.

Responding, the state Commissioner for education Dr. jamila Mohammed Dahiru acknowledged Garba Adamu Kawu’s dedication to the school’s welfare and apologized for the government’s shortcomings in providing all the required facilities to Schools in his constituency.

She assured the community that their concerns would be channel to the appropriate authority, noting that education is a priority of the government.

The Commissioner promised to summon the principal of the school to discuss issues affecting the school.

She dispelled rumors going round of school closures and machine auctions, advising the community to direct any inquiries to the Ministry for necessary action.

Also speaking, former state Commissioner of Education, Ibrahim Yashi, expressed appreciation for the visit and pledged to complement Garba Adam Kawu’s commitment to supporting schools in the area.

In a vote of thanks, the District Head of Ganjuwa , Alhaji Dr. Baba Mohammed Gidado commended the visiting team and pledged to engage further with community members on the discussed issues and appealed to the Commissioner to facilitate the completion of the proposed boarding school construction.
