Sultan Of Sokoto calls on Muslims to abide by the teachings of the Qur’an and the Hadith.

Ibrahim Muhammad Nasir from Bauchi State has emerged overall winner in sixty Hizib and kira’at in male category While Zainab Aliyu Muhammad from Kano emerged winner in female category in Sixty hizib with Tafsir and kira’at at the just concluded Quranic recitation recitation competition in Damaturu, Yobe state.

Turbaning the two winners, the Sultan of Sokoto Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar charged Muslims to strengthen their Iman and efforts in propagating Islam religion in all the nocks and crannies.

Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar also called on Muslims to abide by the instructions of the glorious Qur’an and the prophetic Hadith for them to live an exemplary life in accordance with the teachings of Islam.

Earlier, the Chairman local organizing committee Alhaji Baba Wali who thanked Allah for the successful completion of the competition commended the National organizing committee for their sacrifices and dedications.

In a remark, the Vice Chancellor Usman Dan Fodio University Sokoto, Professor Lawan Sulaiman Bilbis who expressed gratitude to Allah for witnessing the day said 248 contingents participated in the competition from 34 states.

Professor Lawan Bilbis explained that the competition was geared towards enhancing unity and brotherhood among Muslims.

He announced that, the three overall winners will represent Nigeria at the international level.

Governor Mai Mala Buni at the occasion, called on Nigerians irrespective of religion or zone to pray for peace, progress and development of the country.

A guest speaker at the occasion, sheikh Aminu Daurawa said the importance of reciting and memorizing the glorious Qur’an cannot be overemphasized, hence the need for Muslims to uphold it considering the bounties associated with it.

Declaring, the competition closed, President Bola Ahmad Tinubu represented by the APC National Chairman Alhaji Abdulllahi Umar Ganduje called for more participation of organisations in the Qur’anic recitation competition.
