Bauchi SEMA Reaffirms continues sensitizing people disaster Management

The State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) under the state Ministry Humanitarian affairs and Disaster Control has listed safety tips for residents that will curb fire disasters as the harmattan season set in.
The Director relief and rehabilitation of the Agency Adamu Na Yola gave the tips in an interview parliamentary correspondents after depending the Agency’s budget proposal at the State assembly.
Adamu Na Yola said that the tips were imperative to prevent fire disasters during the dry season in houses, offices, markets and other places of public interest.
He listed the tips as, not leaving cooking unattended; indiscriminate bush burning, storing inflammable items indoors and keeping gas cylinders indoors.
He added that it was also imperative that children were not allowed to play with fire, stressing that all electrical and electronic appliances should be switched off while leaving home, office, market shop and other places.
He listed others to include, procuring first aid fire-fighting equipment at home, office and others, as well as getting fire service emergency phone numbers.
Adamu Na Yalo emphasised that paying attention to food on fire was very key in preventing fire outbreak, noting that leaving food on fire without supervision was the number one cause of residential fire.
He said SEMA would continue sensitizing and educating people of the state on the dangers associated with fire outbreak and other disasters part from providing assistance and relief.
