Women for women International has trained over three hundred women on various skill acquisitions in Toro local government as part of effort to fight Gender Base Violence in the area.
Bauchi State coordinator Women for Women International Mrs. Naomi Guqat, made disclosed this while speaking to newsmen after meeting with over one thousand women and their household in Tilla Community of Toro Local Government.
Mrs. Naomi said, Women for Women is working toward addressing Gender Base Violence in the society.
The State programme Coordinator urged the women to uphold the lessons they obtained and put it in to practice as well as applauding the households for supporting women toward realizing the said objectives.
Mrs. Naomi Guqat also appreciated Bauchi State Government for granting the Women for Women approval to operate in the State.
She also commended community and religious leaders in the benefiting communities for giving full support to train the Women in their domains.
In a remark, the representative of National Human Rights Commission Barrister Yusuf Musa Laska said, National Human Rights Commission stand firm toward supporting any victim of GBV in the society.
In their separate remarks, Amina Usman and Martha Samaila both spoke at length on the issues of GBV in the society that include Rape, in equality among genders in education and taking family decisions as well as in ability for some households to shoulder their responsibilities, hence the need for government at all levels and NGOS to intensify efforts toward educating the general public on GBV related issues.
