Misau Local Government Chairman calls for personal and environmental hygiene in the area.

In commemoration of the World Hand Washing Day, the Executive Chairman Misau Local Government, Salisu Hussaini Hardawa has commended various stakeholders involved in personal and environmental hygiene in the area for enlightening people on this important task of protecting human body against diseases.

The Chairman made the commendation at an event in Misau to mark this year’s Hand Washing Day in line with global best practice of body cleaning.

The Chairman said hand washing is an important and most significant task of protecting oneself from contracting diseases particularly cholera and food poisoning.

He applauded the medical and environmental health officers including NGOs officials in the Local Government for their commitment in ensuring non spread of communicable diseases that usually emanates from poor hygiene among people.

Earlier speaking, representative of the Water Aid Nigeria in Bauchi State Mr. Marshall Mallo and WASH Coordinator Misau local government Usman Ilyasu reiterated that washing hands before and after meal significantly prevents contracting germs, while calling on people to pay proper attention to cleanliness of their toilets for healthy living.

   Also commenting, the Education Secretary Misau Local Government, Alhaji Bala Muhammad Akuyam noted that primary school pupils are being taught lessons on personal hygiene and body cleanliness to display the benefits of hand washing in educational setting.
