Jama’are LGA pledges to sustain good foundation layed by MEDA

Jama’are local Government council in Bauchi state has pledged to sustain the good foundation layed by the Mennonite Economic Development Associates (MEDA) in the areas of women and Youth empowerment for self reliant and productivity.

The caretaker committee chairman of the Local Government, Alhaji Inuwa Mosha made this known on the occasion of round off visit for MEDA project sustainability.

Alhaji Mosha, said the MEDA’s intervention at the grassroot has assisted immensely in enhancing the economic status of households for rural economic development.

He said, the intervention of MEDA in the ares of Village Savings Loans, Girl Child education, Women and Youth empowerment, women participation in Good Governance, among others, has recorded tremendous succeses and promised to sustain such gains to ensure security and economic development of the local government.

In her address, the country manager of the Mennonite Economic Development Associates, MEDA Nigeria, Mrs Grace Fossen Okelola, applauded women and youth of Jama’are Local Government for bringing positive results of the MEDA’s intervention, and urged MEDA’s partners to ensure that the hope of the organisation remain always alive.

She said, Jama’are been among the benefiting Communities of the MEDA’s project, will serve as role model to neighbouring areas for economic sustainability.

Some beneficiaries who spoke at the end of the project tour event, acknowledged the positive impact of the program on their economic development and urged authorities in the area to provide them with an enabling environment for their business to sustain.

On her part, the Vice President of the Bauchi State Women in Business Forum, Hajiya Binta Shua’ibu said they started expanding their activities beyond MEDA LGAs’ intervention and assured that the good gesture done by MEDA for women and Youth in Bauchi State will remain forever.
