INEC distributes election materials ahead of Saturday’s rerun elections.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has distributed sensitive materials ahead of the Saturday’s re-run elections in 3 local govt areas with a pledged to ensure free, fair and transparent elections.

Speaking during the inspection of the materials at the state Central Bank of Nigeria, the Bauchi State Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Mohammad Bulama Nura stated that the materials, including ballot papers, result forms, among others, were received from the state branch of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) for onward distribution to the local government areas of Bauchi, Ningi and Katagum.

According to him, the materials would be moved to the local government areas after party representatives, election observers and security agents confirmed them.

The REC said the commission would convey the materials to the local government areas, assuring that the electoral body was committed to timely delivery of the materials to their various destinations.

Meanwhile, the Bauchi state police command said adequate security measures for peaceful conduct of the rerun elections in all the 3 local government areas.

The State police Commissioner, Auwal Mohammed Musa stated this in an interview with newsmen after inspecting the distribution of the election materials.

called on stakeholders and the general public to do their part in ensuring a free, fair safe, peaceful and credible rerun election.

The Police Commissioner charged everyone to shun violence or any action with the potential of disrupting any of the electoral process, as anyone caught causing mayhem will be made to face the wrath of the law.

Our reporter gathered that there was presence of security operatives drawn from the Department of State Services, Nigeria Police, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps during the distribution exercise.

Representatives political parties participating in the Saturday’s rerun elections were also present for the inspection and distribution of the materials.
