HUMANITARIAN ORGANISATION SUPPORTS TEN WIDOWS WITH 1 MILLION NAIRA IN BAUCHI

A humatarian organization in Bauchi, Women’s Rights Advancement and Protection Alternative (WRAPA) with the support of Modern Shelter Systems and Services Limited, has presented a check donation of the of one hundred thousand naira house rent support to ten Widows each, across the State.
Presenting the check to the beneficiaries held at the district head of Bauchi’s palace, the State Coordinator of the Association Hajiya Amina Bala Jibrin, expressed concern over the alarming rate of 258 two hundred and fifty eight million widows around the world whose plights is historically unseen, hence the need for the NGO and its collaborators deemed it fit to bring them succor in the areas of livelihood.

She explained that armed conflict, displacement, migration and COVID-19 pandemic have rendered many women widowed with many others whose spouses died or disappeared.
Hajiya Amina Bala Jibrin, maintained that the unique experiences as well as the socioeconomic dynamics of widows require amplifying with their voices, to sustain their lives.

According to her the most common challenge face by widows after the dimsed of their family breadwinner, is the loss of shelter and the association saw the need to support them in that direction.

She noted that the activities of Women’s Rights Advancement and Protection Alternative is to protect the rights and interests of women in the society in order to give them a sense of belonging.
Hajiya Amina decried the increasing rate of gender base violence, child molestation and other related cases in the society, and solicited for the support of parents, traditional institutions and other authorities concerned to ensure that the culprits are brought to book to face the wrapth of law.


Hajiya Bala Jibrin emphasized the need for people to report any rape and gender base violence cases, in their domains for prompt actions.

The state coordinator assured commitment of the association to continue to work with other sister organizations, willing to provide positive development to the lives of women.

Also speaking, the State Ambassador WAZOBIA Mrs. Maikudi Grace and the Vice Chairperson Doctors Wives Association, Hajiya Aziza Sunusi promised to ensure the attainment of medical doctors to the victims of sexual abuse as and when due and protect their rights at all times.
In his remarks, the district head of Bauchi Alhaji Nuru Adamu Jumba advocated the need for community suppot initiatives for the peace and unity of the society.
Alhaji Nuru Adamu Jumba, represented by Makaman Bauchi Alhaji Ahmad Muhammad, highlighted the importance of girl child education, to eradicate the issues of gender base violence and rape cases in the society.

The monarch pledged the unwavering commitment of the present administration, to the protection of rights and interests of women and children in the state and urged the Women base organizations not to relent in their humanitarian services to the public for the rapid transformation of women.

Some of the beneficiaries who spoke to our reporter Malama Hannatu Abdullahi, Mrs. Elizabeth Deshi, Lami Haladu and Mrs. Dinatu Sylvanus expressed their happiness with the house rent support by the Women Rights Advancement and Protection Alternative for the assistance and promised to use the money judiciously for self sustenance.
