Governor Bala Mohammed has reiterated his administration commitment towards prioritizing heath and education sectors in the state.
Governor Bala Mohammed stated this during the induction ceremony of fifty four Doctors of the school of medicine sciences, Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Bauchi held at Yelwa Campus
Represented by the state commissioner of heath Dr Mohammad Dambam, the Governor also reaffirmed his administration commitment to security of lives and properties to enable people discharge their daily business activities across the nook and cranies of the state
According to him, he has already declared state of emergency on education and allocation of budget above Abuja declaration to the sector to address the lost glory of education in Bauchi state.
While acknowledging the support of ATBU in the areas of revenue generating to the state, Governor Bala Mohammed also congratulates the Doctors and asked them to serve their country despite challenges.
Earlier, the Vice Chancellor Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Bauchi professor Ibrahim Hassan Garba said the occasion marks a significant progress in the effort of the University to provide a world-class medical college that will stand as the best among peers.
According to the VC, the idea behind the establishment of a medical college in ATBU was initially greeted with stiff resistance from many quaters.
He added that the deficit of medical doctors in Bauchi state, for instance, informed the decision of the present administration to announce its intention to source and recruit one hundred doctors to work in its hospitals.
Professor Ibrahim Hassan Garba encouraged federal government to establish at least, a faculty of medicine in each states order to reduce the increasing inbalance of doctor-to-patient ration in the country.
He used the occasion to announce that the University has received an approval to start the Bsc in Nursing which is a step forward in the growth and development of the College of Medical Sciences.
Professor Ibrahim Hassan Garba tasked the fifty four inducted Doctors to remain steadfast and ambassadors of ATBU as well as wished them success in their future endeavors.
