Governor Bala Mohammed flag-off the revitalization of 118 Primary Healthcare Centres in Kirfi LG.

Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed has flagged-off the revitalization of 118 Primary Healthcare Centres and commissioning of six already revitalized ones in Kirfi Local Government Area.

The project was under the Immunization plus and Malaria Progress by Accelerating Coverage and Transforming Services (IMPACT).

In his address, Governor Bala Mohammed expressed joy by the significant milestone as government in the collective efforts of rebranding the continuum of services in health sector, part of which was the revitalization of healthcare system in Bauchi State.

Represented by the Speaker of the Bauchi State House of assembly Abubakar Y. Suleiman, the Governor said the official flagged-off of 118 Primary Healthcare Centers and commissioning of already 6 revitalized health facilities were clear testaments of his administration’s commitment to strengthen the healthcare services through improvement of infrastructures across the state.

He added that, the Primary Healthcare revitalization initiative aligned with his healthcare blueprint, aimed to strengthen healthcare centers to attain minimum of PHC standards.

He further explained that 124 PHCs were selected for the phase 1 revitalization in Bauchi State through the World Bank IMPACT project, stressing that, already, the state govt has earmarked over seven point five billion naira for the renovation of Primary Healthcare Centers.

The Governor called on contractors to deliver on the agreement and directed stakeholders to closely monitor the upgrades and pledged to be visiting sites to asses the quality of the works been undertaken.

While delivering keynote address, the State Commissioner of Health, Dr. Sani Muhammad Dambam stated that government has constructed infrastructures across all 20 local governments and renovated as well as equipped all the 323 main Pics.

He noted that the revitalization passed beyond mere physical infrastructural developments but all the functional system of the healthcare that includes the human resource, the infrastructures, the governance, healthcare finance, drugs, health information and other components.

In his remarks, the Executive Chairman of Bauchi State Primary Healthcare Board, Dr. Rilwanu Mohammed who emphasized that health is a fundamental right of all, revealed that IMPACT is a ten year project and suggested that the State should request for the second phase of the project.

Also speaking, the chairman state house of assembly committee on Health Lawal Dauda Lawal thanked the State Governor for increasing the health budgetary allocation.

He reiterated that health is a backbone of responsible government and Bauchi State legislature would not let any stone in the health sector untouched, saying oversight functions and regular supervision of ongoing projects would be cardinal tasks.

In a welcome address, the Chairman of Kirfi Local Government Abdulkadir Umar Dewu highlighted some of his breakthrough in the health sector that include sponsorship of 20 students currently pursuing nursing in ATBUTH, other 20 students in School of Health Technology Ningi, procurement of health devices including X-ray and covering medical bills of those that could not afford.

In a vote of thanks, the District Head of Kirfi, Alhaji Muhammad Ladan Kirfi appreciated Governor Bala Mohammed for the works he has been rendering in health and other sectors and urged people to take personal ownership of the facilities.
