Youths in Bauchi State have been called upon to embrace life-changing digital skills to became self reliant in the society.
The call was made by the project lead of the IDEAS-Innovation Grant Facility project Dr Sa’idu Musa Yerima jointly implemented by Manaka General Ventures and Professor Iya Abubakar Research Centre Bauchi during an orientation course to the participants who attended the exercise in Bauchi.
According to the project lead, the exercise is sponsored by the World Bank through the federal ministry of education to engage youth especially women to join their counterparts globally in today’s digital empowerment skills.
He said Bauchi State happened to be among the states selected for the project out of over 100 consortiums that applied, hence the need for the participants to make use of the training to gain digital skills
He said the orientation exercise marks the beginning of a 3 months training for youths in Digital Marketing and Content creation, Cyber security and IT essentials.
The program he added, is designed basically to equip youth especially women on the fundamentals of digitally oriented society for meaningful development, stressing that, the training is for 2 phases which includes internship and mentorships.
Earlier, one of the facilitators at the training Isah Yakubu Jibrin cautioned the participants to be attentive during the training as it is a golden opportunity for them to be part of the training.
Also speaking, the ICT officer of the project Mukhtar Nurudden said the training will expose the participants to courses that provide foundational knowledge to pursue further certifications for those looking to enter the 21st century’s emerging digital trend.
