Divorces and Widows in Bauchi state have been charged to engage in trades and useful ventures aimed at meeting their demands.
Commissioner Hisbah at the Bauchi state Shari’ah commission Barrister Aminu Balarabe Isa who made the call during a one day seminar for Divorces and Widows organized by the commission in collaboration with Al-Muhibba Foundation, said this will improve their lots.
Barrister Aminu Balarabe said the seminar is aimed at changing the mindset of the divorces and widows for them to stop roaming the streets and visiting office to office seeking for assistance.
Earlier, the chairman Bauchi state Shari’ah commission Professor Hamisu Yau Dass said this is part of the commission’s mandate of preparing the divorces and widows for self reliance from Islamic perspective.
In her paper presentation, a lecturer with the Federal Polytechnic Bauchi, Hajiya Maryam Sanusi Mai Jama’a, stressed the need for women especially the Divorces and widows not to live their lives contrary to the teachings of Islam for them to protect their dignity and to engage in trade to improve their lives.
Also speaking, the wife the state Governor Hajiya Aisha Bala Mohammed urged husbands to discharge their obligations of ensuring proper upbringing of their children and urged mothers to be obedient to their husband’s at all times.
Hajiya Aisha Bala advised mothers to give proper orientation to their children particularly the girl child.
