Bauchi State office of Sustainable Development Goals commemorates 2024 International Youth Day.

Bauchi state office of Sustainable Development Goals in collaboration with United Nations Fund for Population Activities has organized a sensitization and entrepreneur skill acquisition for Adolescent and Young people to commemorate the 2024 International Youth Day .

Addressing the participants at the occasion held at Mac Dallas Event centre Bauchi, the Director General SDGs Mrs Lydia Shehu unveiled the theme of the year ” as From Clicks to Progress: Youth Digital Pathways for Sustainable Development”.

Mrs Lydia Shehu, called on development partners to sustained hands of friendship to the SDGs to achieve the desired goals.

Also speaking, the representative of the UNFPA Miss Deborah Tabara, said
Young people have the power to make the physical and digital world, hence the need to adept and harness the vast opportunity that technology offers to build a more inclusive present and future.

Deborah stated that the Youth have boundless potential to inspire and change their communities, state and the national as a whole as they are vibrant and full of ideas.

She commended the office of the state Sustainable Development Goals for organizing the event as part of the government efforts to empowering young people through education and entrepreneur skills acquisition, highlighting the significant strides being made to harness young people potentials.

Deborah also said UNFPA is committed to work closely with Bauchi state government to achieve its development outcomes for the growing population of young people, who constitute more that 35% of the 8,780684 population in the state.

On his part, the state Commissioner for information and Communication Comradd Usman Garba Danturaki called on the youth to remember that they are still being regarded as tomorrow’s leaders and also change makers who will shape the future, innovate and solve problems facing our communities.

He stressed the need for them to recognize the fact that some of the challenges they face such as discrimination, injustice, inequality are part of the processes of development.

The commissioner, urged them to work hard to build a generation that breaks down barriers and unite in tackling the challenges together and create a society that is just, fair and ensure equitable distribution of resources in peaceful manner.

Usman Danturaki appealed to the participants to be good ambassadors of their various organizations and the state at large for the betterment.
