BAUCHI STATE MINISTRY CULTURE AND TOURISM APPLAUDS WILDLIFE CONSERVATION SOCIETY FOR ITS SERVICES TO YANKARI GAME RESERVE ABD NEIGHBOURING COMMUNITIES.

The Wildlife Conservation Society has been applauded for the services rendered in Yankari game reserve neighboring communities of Alkaleri local government area of Bauchi state.
The state commissioner ministry of culture and tourism, Alhaji Abdul Hassan made the commendation during the handing over ceremony of water and sanitation facilities rehabilitated by wildlife conservation society,held at Dan community in Alkaleri local government area.
The commissioner also expressed government’s readiness to support its development partners in achieving the desired goals.
Earlier in his remarks, the deputy country director wildlife conservation society ,Dr.Inaoyom said that under its watershed protection for safe and sustainable water supply in the state, the WCS also rehabilitated and handing over the fourteen boreholes to the communities in Alkaleri local government area of the state.
To this end, the deputy country director said over eleven thousand six hundred and nineteen people have benefited from these gestures in those communities.
Dr Inaoyom outlined communities that benefited from the take off to include Dan, Garin Kweri,Galin Duguri, Kafin Duguri,Gar,Wikki Camp in Yankari game reserve and Alkalerin Gwana communities in Alkaleri local government area.
Also speaking, the executive chairman Alkaleri local government council, Alhaji Garba Hassan Bajama expressed delight over the efforts made by the WCS towards improving the well-being of the people in Alkaleri local government area.
In their separate remarks, the District head of Duguri Alhaji Adamu Muhammad Duguri and his counterpart of Pali Alhaji Garba Muhammad Sambo thanked WCS with the gesture and appealed to the beneficiaries to protect the facilities from vandals for the overall development of the area.
Some members of the communities interviewed expressed delight over the gesture, saying it would go along way in addressing lack of good drinking water as well as open defecation in the area.
