BAUCHI STATE LEGISLATURE PASSES BILL TO ESTABKISH PUBLIC COMPLAINTS AND ACCOUNTABILITY COMMISSION

Bauchi State House of Assembly has passed into law, a bill to establish public complaints and accountability commission.
This is coming, when the chairman, state assembly committee for justice and judiciary Bala Abdu Rishi presented the committee’s report for legislative consideration during the house special sitting.
Bala Abdu Rishi in an interview with parliamentary correspondents said the bill before it was passed into law, the justice and judiciary committee has organized a public hearing to get divergent views of critical stakeholders in respect of the bill.
According to him, one of the objectives of the bill include, investigation of fraud, embezzlement, financial infractions related to state funds and coordination as well as enforcement of all cases of funds mismanagement.
Bala Abdu Rishi added that, the bill will promote accountability, ensure transparency, ensure efficient and effective public service as well as promoted transparency in procurement and processes of government contracts among others.
