Bauchi State Govt. to ensure speedy dispensation of justice to curtail criminal activities.

Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed has said that the signing of the Administration of Criminal Justice Law (ACJL) 2023, Penal Code Law 2022 and Violence Against Persons Prevention Law by his administration is part of efforts to ensure speedy dispensation of justice.

Speaking at the 2023/2024 legal year held at the State High Court complex, the Governor explained that the laws opened a new chapter in criminal administration and guaranteed speedy dispensation of justice that will go along way in addressing and curtailing criminal activities and cases of insecurity in the state.  

Governor Bala Mohammed said the Laws would also enhance the quality of justice and strengthen the rule of law by reinvigorating the level of security, sanity and confidence of the citizens in the judicial system.

He noted that, since the inception of his administration, it has have been striving to ensure that the Judiciary enjoys level playing field to operate without hindrance by giving priority attention to the needs of the judiciary knowing its importance and the vital position it occupies in the stability of the polity and the society in general.

According to him, as the Governor and Chief Executive of the State, his administration will continue to do everything humanly possible within the limited resources available to cooperate and collaborate with other Arms of Government to bring about human and capital development and secure the state against criminal elements to attract investment and expand economic activities.

The Governor told the gathering that the synergy between the Executive and the Judiciary in the state is encouraging and commendable which he said is the key to various developmental innovations abound in the judiciary in line with international best practices.

  He pointed out that the need to further enhance efficient and effective dispensation of justice cannot be overemphasized, hence the need for collaboration in the areas of investment in continuous training for judges, magistrates and court personnel to enhance their skills and keep them abreast of legal developments.

Earlier, the State Chief Judge, Justice Rabi Talatu Umar appreciated Governor Bala Mohammed for his administration’s outstanding support to judiciary, and assured that judiciary will continue to improve on its performance for the best interest of the society.
