BAUCHI STATE GOVERNOR PRESENTS 2024 SUPPLEMENTARY BUDGET TO STATE HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY FOR APPROVAL

Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed has written to the Bauchi state house of assembly seeking for approval of 94b,676m,60,000t naira as 2024 supplementary budget.

The Governor’ request was read by the deputy majority leader Babayo Mohammad Akuyam on the floor of the house during plenary presided over by the speaker Abubakar Y. Sulaiman.
According to him, the Governor is seeking for the approval in pursuant of section 122 of the federal Republic of Nigeria in order to accelerate and execute priority projects aimed at improving the wellbeing of Bauchi citizens.

Babayo Mohammed Akuyam said, the Governor in the letter reiterated his administration commitment to focussing on infrastructural development, human capital development, improving the health and educational sector.

In the meantime, the State House of assembly has established Food Security and Nutrition Committee.

Presenting a motion on the established committee, the House majority leader Babayo Mohammed Akuyam said the committee was constituted with a view to attaining optimal nutrition status for the citizens of Bauchi with focus on the most vulnerable especially women and children as well as internally Displaced persons.

He said the Jurisdictions of the committee includes, to ensure that food and nutrition activities under the state ministry of budget, economic planing and multilateral coordination are implemented in line with the National Multi sectoral strategic plan of action for food and nutrition and to ensure reduction of the proportion of people who suffer hunger and malnutrition.

Others are, to ensure increment of the number of relevant MDA’s with functional nutrition unit by 75% and to ensure incorporation of nutrition education into formal and informal training.

Meanwhile, the state house of assembly has passed into law, a bill to establish Bauchi State safety and security of schools.
