Bauchi State Government Distributes Food Palliatives to Ease Hardship During Ramadan

The Bauchi State Government has distributed millions of bags of rice, maize, millet, and sugar to provide relief to citizens during the Ramadan fasting period.
The Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management, Hajiya Hajara Yakubu Wanka, who chairs the 2025 Ramadan Palliative Distribution Committee, emphasized that this initiative has become a tradition under Governor Bala Abdulkadir Muhammad’s leadership to support residents and alleviate hardship during the holy month.
Hajiya Wanka highlighted that the distribution started with religious groups, acknowledging their significance during Ramadan.
She added that the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) was also included in the palliative distribution to ensure inclusivity across faith communities.
During the distribution event, the Commissioner for Religious Affairs, Community Relations, and Societal Reorientation, Engineer Muhammad Binni Abdulkadir, who serves as the committee’s deputy chairman, urged religious leaders to distribute the items with fairness and justice.
He reminded the Muslim community that Ramadan is a month of repentance and encouraged everyone to seek forgiveness and practice good deeds in their daily lives.
Engineer Abdulkadir also advised parents to be vigilant about their children’s moral upbringing to foster a better society, pledging his ministry’s commitment to strengthening societal values across the state.
The Commissioner of Religious Affairs, said this generous gesture reflects the government’s dedication to promoting unity, compassion, and social welfare for all citizens during the sacred month.
Each religious group and association, including JIBWIS (Gwallagwa and Bakin Kura branches), Tijjaniya, Shi’ats, FOMWAN and CAN, received 100 bags of rice, 100 bags of maize, 100 bags of millet, and 10 bags of sugar.
