BAUCHI STATE GOVERMENT SET TO IMPLEMENT NEW MINIMUM WAGE

Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, has announced the readiness of his administration to begin paying the new national minimum wage starting from this month of November.
Speaking during the State Executive Council meeting at the Government House, Bauchi, Governor Bala said the office of the Head of Civil Service and the labour unions have concluded the arrangement for the commencement of the payment.
He however expressed concern over a recent National Bureau of Statistics report listing Bauchi among states with high poverty levels despite the modest contributions of his administration towards improving the welfare and wellbeing of the people of the state and therefore described the report as a wake-up call, urging council members to intensify efforts to deliver impactful dividend of democracy to the people.
Governor Bala also reiterated his commitment to addressing the backlog of gratuities owed to retired civil servants and appealing for their patience as the government works towards a resolution.
