Bauchi State Gov. urges 20 Bauchi Local Government Chairmen to be prudent and transparent in managing their resources

Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed has charged the newly elected 20 Bauchi State local government chairmen to be prudent in managing resources meant for their local councils as they will be leading by the establishing local government financial autonomy.
He also advised them to study government policies, civil service rules and financial instructions to be able to provide quality leadership that would guarantee their success.
The Governor gave the charge when he received the chairmen on a courtesy visit at Government House, Bauchi.
Governor Bala Mohammed who said the recent Supreme Court judgement which granted financial autonomy for the local governments came with misunderstanding, assured of its full implementation after completion of the assignment being conducted by the committee of Attorney Generals across the country regarding the new constitutional provision.
According to him, his administration remained committed to providing all the needed support in critical sectors of health care services, education, infrastructure and human capital development.
He therefore stressed the need for the newly elected chairmen to deepen stakeholding through establishment of effective working collaboration with traditional institutions, religious organizations and security agencies.
Speaking on behalf of the chairmen, the Chairman Bauchi Local Government Area Alhaji Mahmood Baba Ma’aji who expressed gratitude for the opportunity promised to deliver on their mandate.
He also commended Governor Bala Mohammed for his concern on the plights of communities at the local level.
