Bauchi State Board of Internal Revenue Service holds policy dialogue meeting for 20 local government Chairmen.

Bauchi State Board of Internal Revenue Service (BIRS) has organized a policy dialogue meeting to the twenty local government councils aimed to enhance Revenue Generation in the State.

Speaking during the meeting held at Command Guest inn Bauchi, the state Commissioner, Ministry of Finance and Economic Development, Dr. Yakubu Adamu, said the meeting focuses on strengthening government policies and automation of collection across the twenty local government areas of the state.

He said the state and local governments would harmonize the process and put efficiency for more revenue generation at the local government levels.

In his remarks, the State Commissioner Ministry for Local Government and Chieftaincy affairs, Alhaji Isah Babayo Tilde, described the occasion as timely and important and assured the state government that, the twenty local government councils will do everything possible to ensure revenue generation to the state as well as to support the board of internal revenue for efficient service delivery.

Earlier, in his welcome address, the Executive Chairman Board of Internal Revenue Service Alhaji Mu’azu Usman, said the purpose of the occasion is to enable state government and local government councils to deliberate and come up with strategies on how to improve the revenue generation particularly at the local government levels, adding that they have autonomy and source of revenue for themselves.

He noted that, the policy dialogue has also provide other policies that will further improve the revenue potentials of the state as well as to create business enabling environment.

Also speaking at the occasion, the Chairman Bauchi Local Government Alhaji Mahmud Babamaji Abubakar described the move as a welcome development, adding that the revenue generation is a key to economic growth of every society.

He promised on behalf of all Local Government Chairmen to be committed and dedication to achieve the set objectives in the best interest of the state.
