Bauchi State Assembly passes farmers/herders board bill into law.

The Bauchi state House of assembly has passed into law a bill to provide for the establishment of the Bauchi state farmers and herders Board.
The passage of the bill is coming when the chairman of the house joint committees on agriculture and forestry as well as environment Ladan Mohammed representing Ganjuwa East in the state assembly lay the report of the committees during plenary presided over by speaker Babayo Muhammad Akuyam.
Speaking to parliamentary correspondents after passing the bill into, Ladan Muhammad said the establishment of the board will give power to among other things, maintain grazing reserves, road reserves, stock routes, watering points to manage and prevent conflicts between farmers and herders.
According to him, the board will go along way to in bringing sanity between farmers and herders clashing before, during and after raining seasons across the state.
Ladan Muhammad added that the committee has received inputs from stakeholders in the state and has visited implemented states of Gombe and Jigawa to ensure smooth and full take up of the board.
In his ruling, the speaker, Babayo Muhammad Akuyam described the bill as timely and commended the committee members on their legislative role.
