Bauchi Nawoj celebrates IWD , engages adolescent girls on menstrual Hygiene

Bauchi State Chapter of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists NAWOJ, has challenged adolescent girls to improve their self healthcare needs through the use of local methods of menstrual Hygiene practices.

The State Chairperson Nawoj, Hajiya Rasheeda Yusuf gave the charge at a Health Education forum on effective practices of Menstrual Hygiene for Adolescent Girls organized by Nawoj to commemorate the International Women’s Day , in partnership with UNiCEF Field office Bauchi, held at Tirwun Community.
She said the move became necessary inorder to encourage healthy living, and improve healthcare practices among communities , and advised the Girls to engage in the marketing of the sanitary pads they learnt during the Programme to empower themselves economically.
In a presentation of a health talk, a medical personnel at Tirwun Ward , Hajiya Murjanatu Mohammed charged the participants to maintain personal Hygiene , describing it as an important aspect of human safety.
She advised them to always maintain a healthy living.
In a remark , the Ward head of Tirwun , Alhaji Ahmed Muhammed expressed gratitude to Nawoj For introducing developmental Programmes to the community, describing it as a welcome development.
He applauded the women Journalists and UNICEF Bauchi Field office for their efforts in contributing to the Healthcare needs of local communities.
The Ward head therefore urged the adolescent girls to put into practice what they learnt inorder to improve their livelihood.
Hajiya Rashida was bestowed with the title of Wakiliyar Sadarwar Tirwun.
