Bauchi lawmaker calls on motorists to obey traffic rules and regulations.
Bauchi State House of Assembly has called on motorists to respect and obey traffic rules and regulations to arrive at their destinations safely.
The call was contained in a motion under matters of urgent public importance moved by member representing Bogoro constituency in the state assembly Musa Wakili Nakwada during plenary.
The lawmaker in his presentation said motorists plying major roads across the state especially on market days, imbibe the habit of overloading of passengers and animals in the same car which is against the traffic rules and regulations.
According to him, the call became imperative due to the attitude of drivers in the state to ensure safety conscious on the road.
Musa Wakili Nakwada appealed to relevant road stakeholders in the state to come together in curtailing road crashes.
Other lawmakers in their contributions, called for the review of the existing road use laws in the state to avoid loss of lives and property.
In his ruling, the speaker Abubakar Y. Suleiman said the house will work in close collaboration with the state ministry of information and communication, NURTW, BAROTA, VIO among others to sensitize the public on the ugly trend.
