BAUCHI GOVERNOR APPRECIATES MILITARY’S COMMITMENT TO NATIONAL UNITY, SECURITY

Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed of Bauchi State on Monday applauded officers and men of the Nigerian Armed Forces for their sacrifices and efforts towards uniting the nation and continued commitment to the fight against insecurity across the country.
Speaking at the Armed Forces Remembrance Day lunch held at the Officers mess, 33 Artillery Bauchi, the Governor noted that the military has successfully kept the nation as one entity and appreciated the military and other security agencies for keeping the nation together since independence in spite of various security challenges.
Represented by his Deputy, Rt. Hon. Mohammed Auwal Jatau, Governor Bala Mohammed pointed out that, Nigerian Army in particular has significantly curtailed the activities of insurgents in the North-East, as well putting bandits in the North-West under pressure as they have remained a binding force uniting the nation.
“We have to appreciate our Armed Forces for supporting democracy has come to stay in Nigeria. We are grateful to the Nigerian Army and other security agencies for their support and cooperation to my administration.
“The Legionnaires we are celebrating today are Nigerians who served this nation in order to protect and preserve its territorial integrity, as well as its survival as a single indivisible entity through their sacrifices during the world wars, the Nigerian Civil War and other wars.
“It is therefore pertinent that we show our appreciation to them for their sacrifices. On our part, the State Government has been making effort to ensure the comfort of the Legionnaires and their families by engaging them in gainful employment. The families of these heroes really need support, care and compassion from all of us.
Governor Bala Mohammed then reassured legionnaires that the state Government will continue to assist them in order to provide succour to them and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to sustain its support to the army and other security services to enhance their operations and sacrifices to the nation.
On his part, the Commander Nigerian Army Armored Corps Bauchi, Major General Mohammed Ahmed appealed to the state government and individuals not to relent in supporting the widows and orphans of fallen heroes as well as the legions through medical services, education sponsorship, empowerment among others.
The Commandant 33 Artillery Brigade Bauchi, Brigadier General Emmanuel Egbe had earlier expressed gratitude to the Bauchi State Government for its continued support to the military and explained that army remembrance day is celebrated every January 15 for sober reflections on the need to build an equitable society devoid of crisis.
