The Bauchi State Environmental Protection Agency (BASEPA) is to partner with the Industrial Trust Fund ITF on capacity building and curriculum development.
This was disclosed by the Director General of the Agency Dr Ibrahim Kabir when he led the management and officers of BASEPA on a courtesy visit to the ITF office in Bauchi.
Dr Ibrahim Kabir said, the visit is to familiarize with the ITF and to also formally introduce the Agency’s commitments and interest to partner with the organisation in the areas of capacity building.
He said the the Agency’s Digital Economy Center established by NITDA is readily available, calling on the ITF to leverage on the facility.
Dr Kabir added that, the visit is also discuss some of the gaps identified by BASEPA in the ITF brochure for not accommodating training that has to do with the emerging environmental issues.
The Director General added that BASEPA has the capacity to support in the development of curriculum in that regard and to also enter into an MoU for mutual benefits to the two organisations, the state and the country at large.
He stressed that, as key organ under the Ministry of Environment and Housing, the Agency serves as a reference point for all environmental and public health activities in the state.
Dr Kabir informed the Area manager that BASEPA over the years, trained different Youths and Women organisations, communities, Corp members and Civil Society Organisations on Sanitary Inspection procedures, fumigation services as well as tree planting activities popularly known as Green Business among others.
In his welcome address, area manager, ITF Bauchi, Mr Isah Jibrin Loko said he is overwhelmed by identifying his organisation worthy of the partnership, saying that the gesture is an indication that BASEPA will be a good partner and pledged to work symbiotically to achieve the target objectives of the visit.
The Area Manager also informed the Director General that ITF was established in 1971 with the core mandate of empowering indigenous manpower to close the gaps after the independence in 1960.
He pointed out that the organisation has been operating in that regard and empowered a number of youths in different skills to reduce the unemployment rate in the country and also into SIWES administration among others.
On the requests for partnership, the Area manager assured the Director General that his team will visit BASEPA to assess the Agency’s facilities for proper utilisation, saying that his organisation, on the recommendations and approval from the headquarters, will leverage on the professionals at the Agency in the development of curriculum on the identified gaps and to also serve as resource persons during trainings
