Bauchi State House of Assembly has directed the state shari’a Commission to hasten its investigation on the unverified video going on social media over the alleged claim by an Islamic Scholar in Kano Dr. Abdallah Usman Gadon Kaya on the suspected meeting by Gay and lesbians in Bauchi.
The House made the resolution when member representing Chinade/Madara constituency Dr. Nasiru Ahmed Ala moved a motion under matters of urgent public importance during plenary.
The lawmaker recalled that the Islamic Scholar from kano, revealed that Gays and lesbians from across northern States have converged in Bauchi to promote their activities which he said is contrary to the teaching of both Islam and Christianity.
According to him, there is the need for the state Shari’a commission to invite the Islamic Scholar Dr. Abdallah Gadon Kaya to provide details evidence of the claim to ensure that shari’a laws work against those found involved in the nefarious act.
In his ruling, the speaker of the assembly Abubakar Y. Sulaiman said the 1999 constitution of the Federal Republic Of Nigeria as amended has gave the house the power to direct and invite any person to appear before it for investigation and explanations for on any issue of national interest or claim.
Meanwhile, a bill to establish Bauchi state Hisbah Board 2024 has passed second reading.
