Development Agency activates nutrition corners to reduce malnutrition in the state.

Bauchi State Primary Healthcare Development Agency has activated nutrition corners in Primary healthcare facilities as a pilot project to reduce the burden of malnutrition across the state.
Speaking at an event in Miri primary health care centre, Bauchi Local Government, the project manager CASCADE Mr. Ishaya Audu, said the Nutrition corners and facility gardens would be activated to demonstrate simple techniques using local grains and vegetables.
He said the exercise would be adopted during Ante-Natal and Post Natal sessions.
In his speech, the Executive Chairman BSPHDB Dr Rilwanu, said issues around malnutrition deserved a multi sectoral approach, hence the need for collaborations among stakeholders.
Mohammed attributed inflation, ignorance and lack of exclusive breastfeeding to the factors contributing to spate of malnutrition in the state.
According to him, nutrition corner is supported by Care international and other partners for supporting the state in establishing the corners.
He appreciated the collaborating partners for the support to cut issues of malnutrition.
In her Goodwill message, the state Commissioner for Women Affairs and Child Development Hajiya Zainab Baban Takko represented by Habiba Adamu reiterated the commitment of the ministry on the health wellbeing of women and children.
She encouraged women in the state to embrace home gardening for optimum productivity.
