Bauchi Commissioner for Natural Resources backs Gov Bala recent criticism on Fed. Govt economic policies

Bauchi State Commissioner of Natural Resources Development, Muhammad Maiwada Bello has described Governor Bala Mohammed as a bold advocate for the marginalized, especially in northern Nigeria.

Speaking to newsmen over the weekend in Bauchi, Maiwada Bello defended the governor’s recent criticism on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s economic reforms, stating that the governor’s remarks reflect the genuine concerns of the people he governs.

Recalled that, Governor Bala Mohammed recently sparked national conversation during a meeting with the National Chairman of the Council of Ulama Jama’atu Izalatul Bid’ah Wa’Ikamatis Sunna, Sheikh Sani Yahaya Jingir.

According to him, during the meeting, the governor expressed dissatisfaction with the Federal Government’s handling of economic reforms, particularly tax policies that disproportionately affect northern states.

The Commissioner reiterated the governor’s concerns that, the reforms lack consideration for the realities of ordinary Nigerians.

When asked about the Presidency’s response to the governor’s comments, Maiwada Bello dismissed allegations of political grandstanding.

The commissioner also addressed the Presidency’s claim that Bauchi State has not effectively utilized its federal allocations.

Bello further argued that, Governor Bala Mohammed has always been transparent and focused on poverty alleviation and economic development.

The Natural Resources and Development Commissioner noted that, the governor’s call for collaboration with religious and community leaders, reflects his desire for constructive solutions rather than mere criticisms.

He urged the Federal Government to reevaluate its economic policies and listen to voices like that of Governor Bala Mohammed, who represent the struggles of ordinary Nigerians.
