Bauchi Police Command arrests 2,322 suspected criminals in 2024

Bauchi State Police Command says it has recorded one thousand, one hundred and eighty two arrest cases from two thousand three hundred and twenty two suspects during various operations in twenty twenty four.

The State Commissioner of Police, Auwal Musa Mohammed stated this while briefing Journalists on the activities of the Command at the Command’s headquarters, Bauchi.

Auwal Musa Mohammed said the successess recorded was under the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, is aimed at combating crime and enhancing the safety of all citizens for economic development.

The police commissioner said the Command has undertaken a comprehensive reassessment of its crime prevention strategies, with Community Policing serving as the foundational element of their approach.

He added that, the Command, under his leadership, is implementing decisive measures to address criminal activities within the state which primarily focuses on proactive initiatives designed to deny safe havens to criminal elements who may seek to challenge Police commitments.

The CP pointed out that, the achievements were recorded through State Criminal Investigation Department, the State Intelligence Department SID and Area commands, alongside thirty-three Divisional Headquarters and tactical units attached to the Command.

According to him, the Command has also documented seventy-three cases of Sexual and Gender-Based Violence SGBV during the period.

Auwal Musa Mohammed further revealed that, the command in twenty twenty four, has recovered Twenty-three AK-47 rifles, four G-3 rifles, three SMG rifles, twenty-two fabricated or cut-to-size firearms, five fabricated pistols, seven hundred and fourty six live ammunition of various calibres, thirty-two magazines and one hundred cartridges.

Others include sixty-eight cutlasses, twenty-six knives, ten motor vehicles, twenty-nine motorcycles, sixty-nine handsets, twenty-eight tricycles and a cash sum of twenty two million and thirty eight thousand naira.

He added that the successes were further enhanced through collaborations with sister security agencies and non-governmental organizations to effectively address all forms of criminal activity in the state.
