
The National Open University of Nigeria in Collaboration with National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency has organised a one Awareness Campaign to students of Aminu Saleh College of Education Azare on the dangers of of hard drugs use among youths with the sole aim at curbing the manace of drug abuse in the soceity.
Declaring the session open at the examination hall of the college, the team leader at the event, Rufa’i Aliyu advised the students to pay attention and ask questions when necessary to enable them grasp the message with a view to passing it across for better result
In a speech, the Assistant Supretendent of Nacortics from NDLEA Azare zonal office, Muhammad Abdullahi explained that abusing drugs have harmful effect in the body as it causes disfunction in the body systems.
He called on the students to refrain from using any chemical substance without medical experts’ prescription for their healthy survival.
Contributing to the discursion, a staff from the National Open University of Nigeria, Ibrahim Bello revealed that failure in examination and relationship play a vital role in engaging students in to drugs abuse.
He therefore urged them to always be determined and committed while dealing with serious situations.
Also contributing, Malam Abubakar Muhammad cautioned the paticipants against using energizers to avert sleeping especially during exams, adding that such substance contained caffaine which toxifies liver and affects human physiology.
In a remark, Dr. Ali Garba Rishi who is the Director, Carrier Services Centre of the Aminu Saleh college of education, appreciated the gesture and called for more collaboration between the college and the organizers of the event for the overall development of the soceity.
